Ryokan Kiraku

This is the best place to stay!!! You get a taste of Japan as it was 30 years ago. Beautiful rooms, futon, kotatsu set Japanese menu- which was HUGE! The ryokan has an out side bath with a hot sand bath (砂虫), sauna and bath. The inside bath was gorgeous too. The times switched between male and female. There was also a family bath, which you can book. It was excellent because my two sons went by themselves. They are not keen on sharing a bath room! Also, you can asked to be picked up from the train station ( nishi guchi) and dropped back.

Meals were amazing. Great variety and so tasty, with a private dinner room. Onsen was excellent too, we enjoyed the private family onsen. Staff were really nice and we really appreciated the shuttle service on the way to the ryokan and back to the station. Location is great. Most Beppu hells within a walking distance and the last 2 can be reached easily by bus.
